Change an LPG Cylinder
There are various types of sources that could power forklifts. They could run using LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for numerous uses. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders which could be changed out when the machine needs to be refueled.
When changing out an LP cylinder, you should really be careful in order to avoid possible serious injuries. For instance: be sure to put on the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Make sure that you turned off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by using the hand.
