Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names such as: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Just as the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they move cargo. The Rider model however, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of cargo over extended distances within warehouses and manufacturing operations. They are extremely fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to lift and move tall or unstable loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the right answer if you are searching for a cheap way of moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you should transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the best option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This equipment is specifically made for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in order to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles which could work in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of equipment in physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more popular.
