Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to stock up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck comes in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is usually used. This model has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within most warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
