Types of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine which enables personnel to perform tasks without having to build a scaffolding. They are utilized to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common equipment found in factory and warehouse settings as well.
Boom lifts would usually provide powered and wheeled bases which could drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to elevate the employees. There are many various types of lifts and each one is suited to different tasks and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, that are usually called "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers normally use these machines to trim trees.
Each and every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a regular truck, that allows these vehicles to move fast on normal roads. What's more, this increases the area which this equipment can service efficiently. This is especially important for power companies. Like for instance, a lot of these companies use cherry pickers to lift employees up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets should be frequently checked and properly insulated since they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform that is mounted on an arm which could bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Typically, the articulated boom lift is utilized for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already completed. Projects which do not need easy access right underneath the jobsite. These lifts could be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas that are hard to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
